• Can be supplied with single element or single circuit trays. Single element
splice capacity is 240 fibres. Single Circuit splice capacity is 160 fibres.
Single circuit splice trays are a single tray with two separate storage areas.
• Note: For use with 1.5mm splice protectors. Crimp splices can also be used
in the single element trays but the capacity is reduced to 6 fibres per tray.
• Each box comes supplied with a top and bottom routing manifold for fibre
routing to the splice trays.
• All fibres are positively managed to maintain a 30mm minimum bend radius
within the wall box.
• Splice trays hinge upwards individually, allowing full access to spliced fibres
without disturbance to live fibres in adjacent trays.
• The box can be adapted for multiple applications using a variety of kits for
loop cable entry, in-line cable entry, locking for aerial cables etc. See
additional items on pages 3 and 4.
• The box is suitable for loop and riser applications.
• Cables can enter / exit from the top or bottom face of the box.
• The box is sealed to IP55 and the boxes are moulded from UV stable material
to prevent discolouring. The boxes are made using flame retardant UL94-V0
rated materials

• Each box can be supplied empty or pre fitted with a 1×32 way splitter. For
technical information on the splitter refer to data sheet AC005.
• The box is pre-configured with 32 customer splice trays, each housing a splitter
output leg. Note. There are 16 double splice trays where each splice tray
contains a hinge out second splice tray within it, providing two separate storage
areas for customer segregation.
• Each unit is also supplied with a splitter input tray (green) and three single
element trays for storage or splice through.

Features and benefits
• The MDB-M48 is a wall box or module that allows splicing, patching, splitting or
storage of optical fibres.
• A MDB-M24 version is also available (see datasheet WM062-01 Modular
Distribution Box MDB-M24) with half the capacity, it can be stacked with the MDBM48 to create a modular system.
• The MDB-M48 module has a central area to organize the fibres, this area is
protected with a front door.
• The right hand side cover allows access to a common patch panel for up to 48SC
positions. In the area, the top and bottom walls are removable to provide
patching between the modules.
• The two covers are secured with a 8mm male triangular key, DIN3223.
• Two cable entry ports are available on the MDB-M48.
• The MDB-M48 module can be configured as :
ƒ A Patch Module: Suitable to receive up to four SC pre-terminated cables.
ƒ A Splice Module: Suitable to splice up to 48 fibres from one or two cables to
pigtails connected to the patch panel.
ƒ A Splitting Module: Suitable to mount twelve pre-terminated SC/APC 1×4 PLC
splitters or six pre-terminated SC/APC 1×8 PLC splitters connected to the patch
panel. The splitter input fibres can be spliced to the fibres of one or up to four
incoming cables.
ƒ A Storage Module: Suitable to store unused cable elements.
• The MDB-M48 is rated IP41 with a light grey color RAL 7035.
• A metallic wall support is available to align the modules on a wall.
